Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how MediaConvert ("the App"), developed and published by IAM_DEV, handles information when you use our Windows desktop application. This policy applies to the MediaConvert app available on the Microsoft Store (Store ID: 9NGQ6HCL5HJ7) and the accompanying website at media-convert.iamdev.me.

By installing or using MediaConvert, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you have questions, please visit our Support page.

Information We Do NOT Collect

MediaConvert is designed to collect zero personal information. Specifically, we do not collect, store, transmit, or process:

Your files or their content. The media files you convert stay on your device at all times. They are never read by our servers because we have no servers involved in the conversion process.
Personal identifiers. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. No account creation is required or possible.
Usage analytics. We do not use analytics SDKs, telemetry, crash reporters, or any other tracking technology that would send data about your usage patterns to us or any third party.
Device information. We do not collect device identifiers, hardware fingerprints, IP addresses, OS version details, or any other device metadata.
Location data. The app does not access or transmit your geographic location in any form.
Financial information. No payment information is collected or processed by the app itself. Any purchase-related data is handled exclusively by Microsoft.

Local Storage

MediaConvert maintains a local database stored on your device to provide the conversion history feature. This database is located in the app's local data folder on your Windows machine.

What is stored locally? The local database contains a log of your conversion tasks: input file name, output file name, selected operation, output format, timestamp, and conversion status. This data never leaves your device.

This local database exists solely to show you a history of your past conversions within the app. You can clear this history at any time from within the app's settings. Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data according to standard Windows MSIX uninstall behavior.

No other local storage mechanism (cookies, browser storage, registry keys beyond standard Windows app registration) is used.

How the App Works

All conversions are performed locally on your machine. Here is the complete data flow when you use the app:

You drag and drop files into the app window.
The app reads the file from your local file system.
The file is processed entirely within your device.
The converted output file is written back to your local file system at a location you choose.
A record of the task is saved to the local history database.

At no point in this process does any data leave your device. The app does not make outbound network connections during conversion. An internet connection is not required to use any feature of MediaConvert.

Third-Party Services

MediaConvert itself does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, SDKs, or analytics platforms. There are no:

Advertising networks or ad SDKs
Analytics or telemetry services (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel)
Crash reporting services (e.g., Sentry, Crashlytics)
Social media integrations or share buttons that track you
Cloud storage or processing services

The only external party involved in your use of MediaConvert is Microsoft, through the Microsoft Store distribution platform. Microsoft's collection of data related to app installation and updates is governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement, which is separate from this policy.

Children's Privacy

MediaConvert is rated for Everyone on the Microsoft Store and is safe for users of all ages. Because we do not collect any personal information from any users, there is no special risk to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) — in fact, we do not collect data from any users at all.

Parents and guardians can allow their children to use MediaConvert with confidence that no personal information will be collected, transmitted, or stored remotely.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app or applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice through the Microsoft Store listing or within the app.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Our commitment: We will never introduce data collection, advertising, or account requirements without clear, prominent notice and an opportunity for you to opt out or stop using the app.
